Glactic Overlord Sneak Peek

So another Sneak Peek has come and gone and we had another good time.  As I was in line for the event, it was pretty obvious that everyone wanted the same thing.  Cardcar D.  Everyone already knew that it was Secret Rare because of the video that popped up juts a few days before that showed someone opening some sneak peek packs and getting a Cardcar D.  Everyone already had a feeling that it was going to be a Secret Rare though because of those wonderful rarity upgrades.  So once we were all inside & we got to open our packs, my girlfriend and I got:

1x Number 25: Force Focus
1x Hieratic Dragon King of Atum
1x Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet
1x Hieratic Draon of Este
1x Photon Papilloperative
1x Rocket Arrow Express
1x Hieratic Seal of Reflection
1x Trial and Tribulation
2x Inzektor Ladybug
2x Watttaildragon
2x Hieratic Dragon of Su

There were no Cardcar D's at our sneak.

I'd quickly trade it for one of these.

So as far as the tournament went, I made it to the second round and was knocked out there by a friend of mine.  Both of my duels were good but the fatal mistake that I made was using Rocket Arrow Express.  In both games, this card was able to save me from a bit of Life Point damage but then it became a target for this:
A truly hilarious card.

So the effect of Mini-Guts is "Tribute 1 monster you control to target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes 0 until the End Phase. This turn, when it is destroyed by battle and sent to their Graveyard: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to its original ATK in the Graveyard."  So against a 5000ATK monster, expect hilarious results. One thing I really wish I would have pulled is the Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger.  Anybody who runs any Rank 5's or 6's.  Gaia is completely broken in the Hieratic look once all the Atum's are used up.  Once the set drops I'll try to scoop up a couple as fast as possible.  Everyone seemed to have a great time at sneak and I don't really have much more to say about the set.  Thanks for reading!

Arm and A Leg

On November 9th, I went to a little place called Frank & Son's Collectible Show in Industry, CA & I saw something that I have been thinking about for quite a while now.  Something that almost made me quit this wonderfully entertaining card game. Walking around Frank & Son's just looking at different booths for no reason other than window shopping, I saw something that I believe is quite insane.

Of course it had to be this bitch.

Tour Guide From The Underworld was priced at $200.  I could not believe this card was priced at that much.  At this point I should have called the vendor over & inquire as to if he had, in fact, lost his fucking mind$200 for a 3.4inch x 4.5inch card?  It isn't just Tour Guide, my fellow duelists.  I'm not even too sure that most of you know this but other cards like this are outrageously over-priced.  I went on a couple of different sites & looked up the prices for some of the most popular cards in this game right now and these were my findings:

Ally of Justice Catastor                                   - Average Price $21.49

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning  - Average Price  $65.28 (Secret Rare)
                                                                                                 $57.49 (Gold Rare)

Pot of Duality                                                   - Average Price $61.62 (Secret Rare)
                                                                                                 $15.31 (Super Rare)

Naturia Barkion                                               - Average Price $21.82

Naturia Beast                                                   - Average Price $25.26

Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon                    -Average Price $21.72. (Jump)
                                                                                                $15.38 (Super Rare)

Rescue Rabbit                                                 - Average Price  $157.73

Solemn Warning                                               - Average Price $14.00 (Super Rare)
                                                                                                 $34.23 (Ultimate Rare)

Thunder King Rai-Oh                                        -Average Price $10.29 (Common)
                                                                                                 $25.01 (Secret Promo)
                                                                                                 $14.36 (Gold Rare)

Totem Dragon                                                    -Average Price $14.01

I could go on looking up the average price of cards but I think you get the idea.  I mean, seriously, 10 bucks for a common. A Thunder King.  Fuck me, that is insane. Now I know that these cards are those cards that people are good and I'm not arguing that point.  What I am saying is that it is absolutely ridiculous to play $15-$17 for a Pot of Duality!

Fuck you! How can a tin card be that much!?

But it isn't just cards, my friends. Things like sleeves, deck boxes, dice, & folders cost way more than they are worth. A pack of Players Choice sleeves is about $6.  A better quality of sleeves that can last twice as long only costs $2.50! Those new anime character deck boxes cost $15! I'll admit that those deck boxes are nice.  I will admit that I want one because they seem more convenient & a bit more stylish that my old deck box that's being held together with tape but that is no reason to spend that much on a little tiny box of plastic that I'm just going to be throwing in and out of my bag and onto tables or my desk at home.

Or a nice HOTD one.

Now what's the point to all this? Well I'm not really sure. All I know is that things are only worth what you are willing to give up for them.  Maybe it just comes down to peoples priorities or how much people are willing to spend to have a change at winning or to make their decks look nice. I'm guilty of this.  Ive spent much, much more that I had to necessary on a card that I wanted or a prettier shiny version of a card I already have. I  also know that I am going to put a stop it needless spending on things I do not need.  If I really want something I will barter/trade/haggle/etc. but I will not pay an over-the-top or outrageous price for something that is priced at a certain amount because of its popularity among others.

NEXT TIME! TOP TEN HATED YU-GI-OH CARDS!

Photon Shockwave Sneak Peak

So the Photon Shockwave Sneak Peek was a great & I had a great time at 4 Color Fantasies in Rancho Cucamongua. Although I did not stay for the complete event(because there was no prize for first place), I really enjoyed myself & so did all the other people that I attended the event with.  As far as what I pulled, I got a Ghost Rare Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. That was about the only thing that I pulled & i was not too thrilled since 3 days before, I had bought 2 of the Galaxy-Eyes tins just for that card & the reprinted Solemn Warnings. Still the Ghost Rare does look pretty nice.

Sexy right?

Now i have to say that I actually like this card. I understand why people do not like this card. Who's gonna wanna tribute two monsters with 2000 ATK or higher?  Not me. But you don't have to go that route. I was lucky enough to be able to summon this card in all 3 matches I was in before dropping out.

Thanks to this little guy!

Anyway, I like Galaxy-Eyes Dragons effect of removing itself & your opponents monster until the end phase.  Using that effect was what won me my last match at the Sneak Peek. Banishing Galaxy-Eyes & my opponents monster allowed my other weaker monsters to attack directly & avoid my opponents traps like Fiery Fervor. I'm using two Galaxy-Eyes in my dragon deck & it seems to work pretty well. It's easily SS with my Darkness Metal or NS by tributing a Totem Dragon.  This cards effect is a Quick Effect that targets one Monster on your opponents side of the field.  Its effect of chain-able to cards like Number 39: Utopia if your opponent negates the attack, Galaxy-Eyes gets a nice little boost in ATK at the when it returns to the field at the end of the Battle Phase. I like this card but that's just the opinion of a guy who likes to see the glass as half full.  The one card that i was looking for at the Sneak Peek & was able to get a play set of was Alexandrite Dragon.

Sooo awesome.

This card is just great in my opinion. Level 4 LIGHT Dragon with 2000 ATK.  This card can do some damage that wont walk away from.  I don't think I really have to explain it but 2000 attack points & being a Light monster can really make Chaos Dragons or any other Chaos deck hilarious. At the Sneak, a friend of mine was lucky enough to win one of the Sneak Peek mats which looks really awesome & I was able to acquire it for a couple bucks.

Along with many other people at the event, I was disappointed that the art of Wattcancel was changed from this:

To this crap:

And on top of that, Watt King Cobra is a Common & not Watt King Cobra but Wattcobra. My girlfriend was probably the person who was most upset by this since she had been looking forward to this pack for months since we learned Wattcobra was in it.  Well that's all I have to say about the Photon Shockwave Sneak Peak. It was a great time & i was able to get what I needed & a nice Ghost Rare of a card I like. Soon we'll be able to see the prices & impact of this new set of cards.
